Tates Creek is open year-round except for on Christmas Day. This 125 acre layout was designed by Buck Blankenship in 1969, and was purchased by the city of Lexington in 1972. this layout is quite playable for scratch golfers while beginners and high handicap golfers can face a difficult round from the short blue tees if they choose to. There are two holes with water in play and a total of 15 greenside sand bunkers on the course.
The clubhouse has a well stocked pro shop, snack bar, a small outing room with room for 50 people, and a ball room that can seat more than 200 people. The practice facility is great for short game warm up and includes a shag range, putting green, sand bunker, and chipping area.
